SACRED GEOMETRY - DESIGN, CONSTRUCT & DECORATE YOUR OWN PLATONIC SOLID MODELS WITH JON ALLEN
In this 2 day course you will be introduced to the roots of the art/science of Geometry by making 3D models of the Platonic and Archimedean solids.
These amazing and fundamental geometric and creation forms were known in the Neolithic period, showing sophisticated geometry was already in use in the construction of stone ‘circles’.
The geometry and ratios deriving from these platonic and archimedean forms underpin all great architecture, design, crafts and decoration.
We will be designing, constructing and adorning our own Geometric models from paper using and referencing source material from Keith Critchlow’s studio contents in South West London.
Have fun and explore the underpinning forms of creation with a small group over this 2 day course.
This course is for all levels, no previous experience is necessary.
Prerequisite: None required

Materials including, paper, compass and colours
Light refreshments and herbal teas
PLEASE BRING:
Lunch to eat in the communal kitchens or outdoor eating area. There is a fridge and microwaves. There’s a small Tesco Local closeby + a few cafes slightly further afield
Feel free to bring your own compass, sketchbook or materials only if you want to and/or want to record notes from the day

MEET YOUR TUTOR
The Workshop is led by Jon Allen, Architect and Geometer, who spent 22 years working with Professor Keith Critchlow in architectural practice, teaching and research.
Jon is now retired as a practising Architect, but continues to teach, and work as a Geometry Consultant on building projects.
Jon is the author two books useful: Drawing Geometry and Making Geometry both published by Floris Books.
